This position is for Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Drum, New York. FMWR includes Child and Youth Services, Business Recreation, and Support Services, which enable Soldier readiness, support the resiliency and well-being of Soldiers and Families. Duties

Incumbent performs a variety of tasks involving the maintenance and minor repairs of buildings and associated equipment. Performs minor grounds maintenance to include ensuring entrances and exits are free from debris, sidewalks are clear of ice/snow, and surfaces are maintained according to safety requirements. Performs grass-cutting requirements using riding lawn mowers / garden tractors (from 18HP to 31 HP), push mowers, edger, chainsaws, blowers, weed-eaters, pruners, etc. Performs warehouse work including issuing, receiving, and inventorying equipment, supplies and materials; loading and unloading of trucks; storing and pulling warehouse stock; packing and unpacking material; and repairing or replacing items.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3.
  • This position requires a favorably adjudicated T1/NACI background investigation.
  • An employer referred pre-employment physical examination is required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license to operate assigned government vehicles is required.
  • Must be willing to accept part-time employment.
  • Must be physically able to reach, bend, turn, and move hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls on assigned vehicles.
  • Must be physically able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and items that are heavier with the assistance of other employees or lift equipment.
  • Must be physically able to perform work that requires walking on a variety of surfaces, climbing, kneeling, stooping, pulling, pushing, standing, twisting, and sitting.
  • Management reserves the right to reassign employees to other facilities.
  • Work schedule may be irregular. The incumbent may be required to work, nights, weekends, holidays and/or special events.
  • This is a Weather Essential position. Must be willing and available to work during Winter months (3:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.) and Non-Winter months (Monday thru Friday and the occasional weekend between the hours of 5:45 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.).
  • This position has been identified as a Testing Designated Position. The position is covered by the Army Substance Abuse Program (AR 600–85).
  • Incumbents must complete and sign a DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified Critical under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program).
  • Incumbents must pass a urinalysis test at time of appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Incumbent may have to undergo periodic random drug testing in accordance with EO 12564.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess the following: high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (MUST BE UPLOADED AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION), AND the ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner, AND successfully operated standard tools (ex: push mowers, edger, chainsaws, blowers, weed-eaters, pruners; common hand and power tools and measuring devices of the carpentry and painting trades, etc.), AND work experience performing some landscaping, painting, and work involving motor vehicle operations (MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME).
