DUTIES:
As an IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION) (NGT5710400), GS-2210-09, you will perform as a trainee located in a National Guard JFHQ-State organization under the office of the Chief Information Officer(G6). This trainee position is classified at less than the full performance level for recruitment and training purposes. Assignments are progressively more difficult until the full performance level of GS-2210-11 is reached.
As a IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION) (NGT5710500), GS-2210-9/11, you will serve as a systems administrator on one or more of the systems maintained/administered throughout the state. The incumbent is responsible for installing and testing the system security configuration and monitoring, operating, troubleshooting and maintaining server hardware and software.
Physical Demands:
Work is sedentary. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Working Environment:
Work is performed in a typical office setting. Special safety precautions are not required.
QUALIFICATIONS:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
GS-09: Applicant must possess at least ONE (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower-level GS-07 or the equivalent TWENTY-FOUR (24) months of specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as technical specialized experience in the area of system administration by administering multiples computers and multiples operating systems; installing, testing, performing system backups, system security configuration, and monitoring, operating, troubleshooting and maintaining server hardware and software of assigned systems; determine what action to take based on the administration work being performed on other interrelated systems along with the work priorities/schedules of the system users; determine what action is needed based on analyses of the subject and issue.
GS-11: Applicant must possess at least ONE (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower-level GS-09 or the equivalent THIRTY-SIX (36) months of specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as managing all assigned servers and server resources; analyzing and defining requirements; analyzing workload; monitoring capacity and performance; diagnosing and resolving problems; and developing backup and recovery procedures; installing, configuring, and maintaining servers and server resources; installing and upgrading operating systems and layered software packages; conducting hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with Army, NGB and DOD standards and maintaining system configurations; resolving inquiries and problems concerning access, use, and availability of datacenter technologies; providing technical assistance; testing and analyzing system malfunctions and maintaining liaison with counterparts at other commands/installations for troubleshooting assistance and researching.
Note:
This is a developmental position. Employee is considered eligible for non-competitively promotion to next higher level (GS-11) upon meeting the following requirements: (1) Employee must complete appropriate training, obtain required certifications IAW DoDI 8140, DOD 8570.01M or applicable governing document(s) for Cyber workforce as an IA Technician Level within 6 months of employment and all condition of employment. (2) Must complete at least 12 months of specialized work experiences at this grade (GS 9) to successfully achieve the GS-11 competency. (3) Supervisory recommends promotions, and completes all required training, for Serie GS-2210. Consequently, promotion is not guaranteed.
Education
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Major study--computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer may substitute for (6) months of specialized experience.
