Requirements

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

- Must have and maintain a SECRET clearance within one year of employment.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
Qualifications
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
This position requires military membership in the Puerto Rico Army National Guard (PRARNG). If you are not a military member of the PRARNG (i.e., Airman, civilian, active-duty Soldier, prior service, guard member from another state, reservist, IRR, State Guard, etc.), you must contact the Recruiting and Retention (R&R) Office at (787) 289-1400 extension 2015 or 2008 and request the PRARNG Military Basic Requirements (MBR) Certification. If the MBR certification is not submitted, or you do not meet the requirements to be a member of the PRARNG, your application will not be screened.

DUTIES:
As a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (CUSTOMER SUPPORT) (D2527000), GS-2210-12, you will supervise the customer support service desk section. Serves as a Supervisory Information Technology (IT) Specialist (CUSTSPT) responsible for the planning and delivery of customer support services, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance and/or training, in response to customer requirements. As an IT Customer Support Specialist Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating first and second tier technical support by all Service Desks under the direction of the J6 / G6 / CIO directorate and is also responsible for customer relationship building and problem resolution management.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Experience that demonstrated accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled. This knowledge is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant analyzed a number of alternative approaches in the process of advising management concerning major aspects of ADP system design, such as what system interrelationships must be considered, or what operating mode, system software, and/ or equipment configuration is most appropriate for a given project. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Applicant must possess more than TWELVE (12) months at the next lower (GS-11) level or the equivalent THIRTY-SIX (36) months of specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as establishing performance standards and evaluates employee performance; reviewing and recommending approval of candidates for promotions and recognition; reviewing and approving: working plans, priorities and schedules, setting broad objectives, monitoring subordinate employees' performance, reviewing accomplishments, and taking appropriate action of correction when deficiencies are noted; giving advice, counsels, or instructs individual employees, on both work and administrative matters; recommending and approving awards; hears and resolves group employee grievances or serious employee complaints; reviewing and making decisions on serious disciplinary actions involving employees and making decisions on work problems presented by subordinates; identifying and arranging for appropriate training and development opportunities; determining and approving training needs and establishes formal training plans; demonstrating a broad working knowledge of the organization's products, services and operations; operating Service Desk IT tools, technologies, and systems, ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles and practices; maintaining knowledge of expertise area through research, education, training, and on the job experiences; developing and managing customer service performance requirements; developing customer support policies, procedures and standards.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
A 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in a college university, technical or vocational school may be substituted at the rate of one academic year of study (30 semester's hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of specialized experience.
One full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement in a college university, technical or vocational school may be substituted at the rate of one academic year of study (30 semester's hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 9 months of specialized experience.
A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a college university, technical or vocational school may be substituted at the rate of one academic year of study (30 semester's hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 24 months of specialized experience.
A Ph.D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a college university, technical or vocational school may be substituted at the rate of one academic year of study (30 semester's hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 36 months of specialized experience.
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
