Duties
Plans, manages, and performs independent analysis, evaluation, and validation of new automated financial management systems and changes to existing systems for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS).
Serves as senior analyst for field level financial management systems with responsibility for systematic, comprehensive evaluations of software and related managerial products.
Coordinates the conversion of text and print files into database files.
Coordinates with team members, user representatives, and proponent agents on final recommendations to management on the subsequent compilation and review of data.
Develops useful interfaces utilizing a wide range of software products in evaluating the effectiveness of converting data into the proper format, i.e. MS Office Software (MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint), and Foxpro.
Examines records, reports, and computer inputs and outputs to gather facts that define and validate problem areas culminating in findings and assessments of effectiveness of financial management operations and systems.
Assesses the integration of new computer technology and new means of improving productivity and efficiency of systems.

- Please note, this is NOT a 100% virtual/remote position where work may be performed from any location in the US. This position is eligible for local telework near the duty station of the position, subject to management review and approval.
Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience is defined as: Demonstrating knowledge of automated financial systems design and processing principles, techniques, policies and regulations related to finance and accounting operations; identifying, documenting and recommending financial system requirements; and researching issues related to the integration of financial systems.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in Federal Service.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
