The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Protocol Officer for Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command which involves the coordination, planning and implementation of all aspects of the Distinguished Visitor program, official and social events. Conference/meetings and ceremonies. Provides protocol policy and guidance to HQ AFRC and all AFR components.
Duties
DUTY 1:
Serves ns Protocol Specialist, planning, organizing and executing the activities of the Air Force Reserve Command Protocol Office, ensuring that the command complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
DUTY 2:
Assists Chief, Air Force Reserve Protocol and organizational project officers in the planning, coordination and implementation of all official functions for senior Air Force Reserve personnel Plans, organizes, manages and executes all aspects of official and social functions.
DUTY 3:
Represents RE and HQ AFRC with other installation/functional area organizations and outside government and community agencies.
DUTY 4:
Maintains custodial control of the Commander's Official Representation Funds (ORF) gift locker.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide range of concepts, principles, practices and governing policies and regulations to maintain a positive, proactive protocol program, and the ability to combine financial information with operational data for enhanced decision making, planning and execution of a variety of official events, visits, ceremonies, conferences and meetings. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of protocol, customs, courtesies and governing policies
2. Ability to plan, organize work, direct functions and meet suspenses.
3. Ability to meet and deal with customers using a high degree of professionalism.
4. Ability to provide guidance/educate a wide range of civilian and military personnel on protocol practices
5. Knowledge of various office automation software tools, programs and techniques to support office operations and to produce a wide range of products.
6. Knowledge of communication techniques, principles, and regulations to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
