The Transportation Assistant for the Fleet Program, Engineering Service, is located at the Oklahoma VA Health Care System (OKCVAHCS). The Transportation Assistant is responsible performing administrative and fleet support associated with the Facility Fleet Program. The employee assists the Fleet Manager with the OKCVAHCS Fleet Program that maintains 160+ government vehicles. The Transportation Assistant ensures delivery of medical supplies and the coordination of snow removal.

IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-5 LEVEL YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) in the Federal Service that has given you the knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Transportation Assistant. Specialized experience includes performing administrative and fleet support duties for a transportation department such as maintaining records, scheduling services and performing audits/inventory; assisting and coordinating with fleet rotation, vehicle repairs and preventative maintenance; coordinating and scheduling drivers for transport and deliveries. EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: You must have successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)

COMBINATION: You must possess equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (beyond the second year) and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. Travel will be required on a periodic basis. Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office.
