The position is in the Operations Department of the Facilities Management Division (AFM) reporting directly to the Operations Manager. The incumbent is responsible for supervising and performing the work of operation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical devices, distribution systems and equipment at the National Gallery of Art and the Sculpture Garden.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the WS-2805-11. Technical Practices 75-J. Ability To Use Electrical Drawings 81-B. Ability to Use and Maintain Hand Tools 96-A. Troubleshooting Other Relevant Eligibility Criteria: Must be physically able to perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).  Must be able to work unscheduled evening and weekend hours.  Requires work inside and outside, in all kinds of weather.  Work is in areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty and greasy.  Work can be performed 30 feet above the floor, or more.  Work can be in confined spaces.  Work carries risk of electrical shock and burns, and entanglement in moving machinery parts.  Work is near hazardous materials and chemicals.  Incumbent will be required to walk, climb, crawl, kneel, stoop, bend, push and pull for extended periods of time.  Must have the ability to distinguish color and shades of color for wire color codes.  Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.
