The primary purpose of this position, LOGISITIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST GS-0346-12, is to direct, develop, implement as part of a logistics management operation for an organization involved in providing logistical support to a new program, field system, modification or replacement program.
Duties
Responsible for planning, managing and coordinating cradle to grave life cycle logistic support for major weapon system or subsystem, integrating separate functions of supply maintenance, procurement, and quality assurance into logistic activities needed to sustain system fielding.
Assess progress in assigned projects/programs including cost estimates, schedules, and performance supportability baseline requirements by applying known methods and procedures.
Plan, organize, and coordinate activities of functional specialties including contracting, engineering, manufacturing program control, configurations/data management, test, and logistics.
Participate in and/or leads discussions meetings, or serves on panels or committees.
Ensure milestones are met, deficiencies are identified, and needed adjustments are made.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: ability to plan, organize, and direct workload responsibilities and priorities within a working group, organize multiple organizational entities into an integrated and cohesive team, possess strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to interact with team members and external stakeholders; experience is preferred to be within a weapon system acquisition or sustainment activities and familiarity with the nuclear enterprise, preferably with MMIII Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) is highly desired but not required. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. Due to the use of 120 day rosters, applicants within 120 days of completion of TIG requirements are encouraged to apply.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, clearly, and with technical accuracy.
2. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with individuals and groups within the office as well as outside the immediate work place.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and arrange critical aspects of research, development, production, and support of subsystems or equipment and integrate analysis and manage a variety of acquisition functions and personnel in support if the process.
4. Ability to use office automation tools and techniques to design and generate reports, briefing material, and/or comparable documents.
5. Knowledge of acquisition requirements sufficient to serve as a Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR).
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Employee does sedentary work normally in a comfortable office setting. There may be some walking, bending, carrying of light objects, or driving an automobile. No special physical effort or ability is required to perform the work.
WORK ENVIORNMENT: Work is normally performed in an adequately lighted and ventilated office environment, but may require some work test facilities, laboratories, logistic centers and contract or plants. The employee may exercise normal safety precautions.
