About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Human Resources at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Fort Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, MO. Bordering Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2-hour drive east along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hour's drive west of Fort Leonard Wood.
Duties
Operate a variety of electronic systems comprised of hardware and software components capable of storing, retrieving, manipulating, transferring, computing, and printing information.
Perform a variety of procedural clerical and technical duties associated with services necessary for personnel screening to include fingerprinting, data input, and hard-copy/mail or electronic transfer of fingerprints to appropriate agencies.
Use electronic systems and ink processes to retrieve, print or forward fingerprints and submits investigation requests in accordance with guidelines and screening processes.
Conduct Military Personnel Records processing functions including but not limited to in-processing, out-processing, individual updates, Soldier Readiness Processing, promotion/selection boards and contingency operations for permanent party.
Provide pre-retirement services, which include entitlements, benefits, processing procedures, Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) counseling.
Prepare retirement orders, associated documents, and the Certificate of Release or Discharge From Active Duty (DD Form 214) for review by retiring soldiers.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes in one or more of the following: preparing a variety of personnel actions that include forms and documentation associated with the maintenance of records, entitlements, and pay. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resource Management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration or Business Management. OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach transcripts).
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcement.
