The primary purpose of this position is to provide flight line expeditor supervision of the Airlift C-17 Sortie Generation Element with responsibility for flight line functions.
Duties
- Performs duties of flight line expeditor. Monitors supply support and identifies problem areas.
- Supervises a moderate work force. Maintains an organized work area and practices good housekeeping.
- Monitors and ensures cooperation between mechanics in accordance with the decentralized maintenance concept outlined in the functional statement.
- Documents work assignments through the use of AFTO 781 series and Core Automated Maintenance
Systems (CAMS)/Parts Automated Repairable Tracking System (Parts), and G0-81 computer terminals.
- Ensures tools arc properly marked, calibrated (if necessary), and are secured when area is
unattended.

- Performs other related duties as assigned such as preparing reports, forms, exercise evaluation,

- Access is required to information or areas classified up to SECRET. Must be able to obtain and retain Secret Clearance.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Aircraft mechanic duties are paramount; aircraft engine mechanic/pneudraulic skills and knowledges will not be reflected during the recruiting process.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random drug testing for drug use.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WS-8800 Aircraft Overhaul Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair of transport, or other comparable large
body cargo hauling aircraft.
2. Requires knowledge of various phases of aircraft maintenance such as periodic inspections,
corrosion control, structural repair, electrical systems, pneudraulics, etc., in order to perform inspections and evaluate suggestions and technical order changes. Also, requires a basic knowledge in the various trades and craft specialties to evaluate/inspect workmanship.
3. Knowledge of the makeup, operation and installation of a variety of assemblies of aircraft. Skill in use and maintenance of measuring instruments and various mechanics' hand tools. Ability to read and interpret instructions, specifications, blueprints, and technical orders.
4. Individual must be computer literate and have the ability to document work assignments through to be use of AFTO 781 series and automated maintenance management systems.
5. Ability to determine when new assemblies should be installed, repaired, reworked, and the
extent of adjustment required. Ability to detect and isolate malfunctions and to determine when new assemblies, components and parts of aircraft should be installed, reworked, repaired or adjusted.
6. Knowledge of how a variety of aircraft parts, accessories and components are removed and assembled. Knowledge of safety and security requirements as outlined in applicable safety standards, regulation and technical orders. Knowledge of tool, equipment and materials accounting. Ability to clean work area and or job site upon completion of work. Ability to plan and schedule work to achieve maximum utilization of personnel, facilities and equipment.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Considerable standing, walking and climbing in and out of aircraft and maintenance stands.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside. Outside work may be performed in adverse weather. Some work is performed on the flight line and is subject to loud noise from jet engines.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
