About the Position: Serves as the supervisor and lead point of contact for Patient Appointments and Schedule Management Services under the Chief, Clinical Operations at the medical center. Directs the operations of medical center central appointment call center, providing patient appointment scheduling services to all primary and specialty clinics across Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).
Duties
Serves as the health care facility expert in scheduling clinic appointments and centralized appointing.
Directs the operations of medical center central appointment call center.
Oversees the Central Appointment Call Center and Administrative Support Branch sections.
Facilitates scheduling and coordinates initial specialty appointments for enrolled patients.
Instructs Scheduling Clerks in all aspects of the appointing processes and consult/referral management.
Provides administrative supervision of Appointment Clerks and MSAs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes: scheduling clinic appointments and centralized appointing; providing patient appointment scheduling services to all primary and specialty clinics; providing support to health care management officials by performing health care administrative or clinical services in a health care delivery system facility.

Education: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as, Business Administration, Public Management, Human Resources and Healthcare Administration.

Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
