About the Position: The incumbent will serve as an Operations Specialist at DPTMS (Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security) in Fort Riley, KS.
Duties
Conduct the full range of force structure actions including activations, in-activations, reorganizations, attachments, redesignation, and transfers.
Review proposed reorganizations, mission changes, etc., to analyze impact on the installation and units as to operations, personnel types, costs, training requirements, and facility availability.
Evaluate all new equipment deployment planning documents, distribution plans, basis of issue plans, and material fielding plans.
Monitor all new equipment deployment actions.
Recruitment/Relocation/Retention Incentive may be authorized.
Defense National Relocation Program will NOT be authorized.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and/or maintain a secret security clearance.
- This position is temporary not to exceed 30 SEPT 2024.
- A temporary position is time limited and may be extended in one year increments to a maximum of three years and may be terminated at any time during the duration of the appointment.
- This position may be made permanent without further competition.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1). Review the table of organization and equipment documentation to ensure the implementation of regulatory compliance; 2). Determine requirements to support new fielding equipment; and 3). Maintain training and availability for crisis action teams during activation of a catastrophic event or exercise in preparation for an event.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Operations Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
