About the Position: This position is located at Fort. Novosel Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Recreation activities are abundant in the immediate and surrounding area for family and fun.

Duties

Assist the course manger and instructors with the planning, design and development of the 2C-SQII graduate level Tactical Operations Officer Course (TACOPS). Develop pre-emptive and reactive Tactics, Techniques and Procures (TTP) that maximize aircraft survivability. Evaluate the feasibility, practicality, and soundness of proposals for satisfying training deficiencies through the application of instructional and training devices. Instruct various sized groups in Tactical Operations Officer Course and Aircraft Survivability System skills to meet standards. Use automated software systems such as the Multi-service Electronic Warfare Bulletin Broad System (MSEW-BBS), Aviation Survivability Equipment Trainer (ASET) AT devices, Secure Internet Protocol Network (SIPERNET), and Memory Loader Verifier (MLV).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) of 5% business may be required.
  • Able to obtain and maintain Instructor Certification, Small Group Instructor Certification, High Risk of Isolation Certification, Personnel Recovery, and Survival Evasion Resist Escape C.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes: 1) Teaching as a platform instructor in an adult education program, college, military installation, lesson creation and training involving 2) Assisting in the development of lesson plans and course materials for use in instructing in Tactical Operations Officer Course and Aircraft Survivability System skills 3) Developing and reviewing training/course materials, aids, devices and evaluation of training results 4) Using automated and associated software operating systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. if in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: adult education. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Curriculum DevelopmentInstructional DesignLearning and Program Evaluation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
