The Wilson Center is one of the three special institutions created by congressional statute to perform a national mission in affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution. It is governed by its own presidentially appointed Board of Trustees and supported by public and private funds. The Center conducts and sponsors original scholarship and convenes balanced and inclusive dialogue through its programs, which cover all regions of the world and several major global issues.
Duties
The modern era is defined by exponential leaps in scientific understanding and technological breakthroughs. But the potential impacts of these breakthroughs are not always clear. We analyze and translate how emerging technologies will impact international relations. The Science and Technology Innovation Program equips decision-makers and the public with the tools to help understand advancements in science and technology, making science policy accessible to everyone.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the IS-07 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the IS grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
Experience in technology, politics, economics, history, and/or public policy to identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to programmatic research initiatives related to cybersecurity;
Knowledge of grammar, punctuation, spelling in order to proofread and copyedit material for publication and/or presentation;
Training in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods related to cybersecurity at an academic institution assisting senior staff in implementing programmatic research initiatives;
Knowledge of administrative regulations and operating procedures sufficient to support program in the areas of event management and logistic coordination, budgetary and expense issues, and outreach;
Cultivating partnerships with internal and external partners;
Comprehensive knowledge of automated hardware and software programs to accomplish mission of the program.
