Duties
Provides advice and guidance on a wide range and variety of IT issues; interprets IT policies, standards and guidelines for application in user environment.
Tests the functionality of systems and systems upgrades; ensures for optimal use of commercially available products; evaluates IT products or services; prepares reports; and represents the organization.
Evaluates new technology (new or enhanced network, hardware, software applications, security requirements, processes/and or procedures) either independently or as a part of a team.
Oversees the installation of hardware, software, and other equipment, as well as introduction ad orientation for all supported users.
Maintains an inventory of equipment repair parts via a self-designed or off-the-shelf database, to include troubleshooting software tools; maintains necessary supply inventory.
Reviews, coordinates, and evaluates all new or updated AMPO IT systems and provides advice and guidance on functionality.
Requirements

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.

Qualifications
Time in Grade:
For entry at the GS-09 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-07 or higher grade in the Federal Service.
For entry at the GS-11 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-09 or higher grade in the Federal Service.
Basic Requirement:
This position has a positive education requirement. Applicants must meet the basic educations requirements in order to be found minimally qualified for the position.
Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards. My work or the data that I produce is typically reviewed by my supervisor or another colleague.
Customer Service- experience having brief contact with customers to provide information about available information technology products and services and providing customers with standard products or routine services to address information technology needs.
Oral Communication- experience informing my supervisor and other IT staff of the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of basic technical information to a non-technical audience.
Problem Solving- identifying or selecting from a number of alternatives to address routine information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from standard sources that provide a limited number of solutions.
In addition to the Basic Competency Requirements listed above, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade in the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience for each grade level is described as follows:
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-09, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-07 if outside the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as providing advice and guidance on Information Technology issues such as operating systems, IT equipment, IT requirements, methods and procedures to troubleshoot.
For the GS-11, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-09 if outside the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as providing advice and guidance on Information Technology issues such as operating systems, IT equipment, IT requirements, methods and procedures to troubleshoot, improve and resolve computer and software issues and IT-related experience demonstrating Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving as described in the vacancy announcement.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of knowledge, skills and abilities, or competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Education
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE AT GS-09 LEVEL: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, or Master's or equivalent graduate degree such as LL.B. or J.D., may be substituted to meet the experience requirement.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE AT GS-11 LEVEL: Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
