Duties
As a Security Specialist (Global), you will:
Receive, review, and analyze new laws, regulations, and other directives impacting the work of the global
security program.
Review global security risk assessments and make formal recommendations to appropriate CDC officials to improve the security of CDC workforce living and working overseas.
Coordinate new policy global security changes and directives as required.
Provide specialized knowledge and assistance to senior management in establishing global security policies, procedural guidelines, and directives.
Develop and distributes global security security awareness materials to agency travelers and overseas missions concerning facility physical security, personnel security, emergency communications, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level, which must include the following experience: in coordinating security for personnel and facilities, developing and implementing security policies and preparing and delivering security training.
OR
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
OR
Combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Promotion potential: Yes: Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion and is based on your meeting qualifications and time-in-grade requirements, demonstrated ability to perform the higher-level duties, the continuing need for the higher-level duties, and administrative approval.
