About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Office of the Surgeon General, duty locatin Falls Church, VA.
Duties
Serves as the Command Security Officer.
Serves as the Alternate Operations Security Officer and Personnel Security Officer
Manages personnel adverse actions by being the point of contact for reporting and notification of all derogatory reporting.
Implements all security policies and tasks, directives, instructions, standard operating procedures, control systems, and methods.
Reviews contracts to ensure appropriate clauses and/or language is contained therein for anti-terrorism (AT) and operations security (OPSEC)
requirements.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, employee must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Requires Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time.
- Duty outside normal work hours may be required to resolve problems that are subject to occur on a 24-hour/7-day a week basis. Some travel may be required.
- Designated Mission Essential Position: Requires to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Commander.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-12).

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
