About the Position: Serve as Synchronization Staff Officer (SSO) and principal representative for G8, Force Development Directorate in matters to pertaining to one or more of the assigned material systems managed in the: Intelligence and Electronic Warfare (IEW); Mission Command; Indirect Fires; Dominant Maneuver; Air and Missile Defense; Chemical, Biological and Nuclear Defense; Aviation; or Logistics portfolios.

Duties

Participate in the development of Army Guidance, including the Army Modernization Plan, to identify programmatic information. Ensure specific requirement and acquisition planning guidance is identified and considered during the program and budget development process. Work with Program Executive Officer (PEO) and Project Manager (PM) to develop strategy and justification of resources to support system requirements to Army leadership, OSD, OMB, and Congress, resulting in funding of programs. Maintain an awareness of the status of overall support equipment programs and also material acquisition programs for major systems and their related specific requirements for support equipment. Recommend material acquisition and research priorities for assigned division.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Managing the assigned materiel system - Force Protection - to ensure manpower, money, and materiel resources are properly allocated; reviewing budget to ensure systems are fielded in a coordinated manner to support Agency forces; developing justification of resources to support system requirements in the funding of programs; preparing briefings and/or information papers on issues concerning organization or functional areas of responsibility to be presented at meetings, briefings, and conferences; developing acquisition strategies to meet established priorities to assigned systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
