About the Position: Fort Leonard Wood is centrally located in MO and about a two hour drive southwest of St. Louis. Fort Leonard Wood is the home of the Engineer School, Chemical School and Military Police School. The surrounding area is rural. This is a low to medium cost area for housing and traffic density is low.
This position will be filled on a permanent basis.
Duties
Serves as primary instructor; performs technical work on projects covering the development, and review of training programs in the generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of electrical power.
Develops and schedules instruction for each subcourse; prepares criteria sheets and lessons.
Provides on-the-job training to assistant instructors, closely monitoring assistant instructor performance in the classroom and evaluating student performance through the use of graded examinations and practical exercises.
Schedules and presents instruction; primary emphasis is placed on new equipment being integrated into the Army's power generation or TMDE inventory.
Covers concepts in subject areas such as: solid state theory, equipment calibration, electronic fundamentals, AC and DC circuit theory (to include diodes, transistors, Field Effect Transistors, Thyristors and associated semi-conductor circuitry).
Serves as a subject matter expert in Prime Power Production.

Specialized experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes: Performs technical work on projects covering the development, and review of training programs in the generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of electrical power. Develops and schedules instruction for each subcourse. Develops instruction and instrument technology covering principles, and practices in such subject areas as solid state theory, equipment calibration, electronic fundamentals, AC and DC circuit theory.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
