You will serve as Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) (Security Control Assessor Representative the Hopper Information Services Center of HOPPER GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS CENTER. All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

Duties

You will validate, maintain, and/or develop Assessment and Authorization packages in accordance with applicable Dept. of Defense, Dept. of Navy and Intelligence Community directives. You will incorporate knowledge of complex Cyber Security Controls to ensure protective measures maintain and strengthen confidentiality, integrity and availability of information and information systems. You will provide Assessment and Authorization recommendations and guidance regarding IA and assessment problems. You will provide direct support to the Information Assurance Management and customers to include project managers, system developers and system administrators. You will conduct security and vulnerability analysis and general security controls reviews. You will utilize risk management techniques to develop and complete risk assessments based on NIST standards to ensure Cyber IA design sufficiently mitigates Cyber IA risk.

  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
  • This position may requires a 2-Year DCIPS trial period requirement.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing Assessment & Authorization (A&A) related recommendations and guidance regarding Information Assurance (IA) and assessment problems. 2) Administering cyber security controls to ensure protective measures maintain and strengthen confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information and information systems. 3) Conducting periodic security reviews of information systems and implements security safeguards. 4) Providing recommendations on cyber Information Assurance (IA) standards, implementation dependencies, and changing technologies. 5) Providing technical oversight and enforcement of security directives, orders, standards, plans and procedures.
