About the Position: Serve as a Medical Support Assistant (OA) at the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Small Market and Stand Alone Organization (SSO) Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), West Point, NY.

Duties

Provide advice to the Market Director and deputies and other staff on supply management, property management and maintenance, environmental protection, MEDCASE/CEEP and the contracting process. P Coordinate with the employee union on matters of concern to the members of the collective bargaining unit. Interpret logistical regulations, directives, and policies and develops plans to and applies /implements same. Coordinate renovations and procurement actions with appropriate and affected internal, external, and contracted staff (such as Health Facilities Planning Agency and Directorate of Installation Support). Participate in the evaluation, counseling, mentoring, and training of a staff of approximately 20 to 25 military and civilian employees, not including significant contract staff. Monitor performance and evaluates performance of staff and their ability to accomplish assigned work through discussion, internal and external communication, evaluation, management reports, and the assessment of work quality and service provided. Develop hiring actions as required and selects or approves selection of non-supervisory positions in the unit. Ensure that both subordinate employees and external coordinating staffs quickly and correctly address West Point Market safety issues. Develop agreements with installation on BASOPS support and coordinates same with Market Resource Management Division. Develop data calls for RAMOP and subsequently reports category 500/non-500 square footage reports for higher headquarters. Oversee contract work completed for logistical contracts as well as pay requests. Oversee the management of the DMLSS System which controls requisitioning and tracking of medical material and equipment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing an automated medical logistics system such as Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) to input and retrieve data; overseeing medical supply stock levels within a medical treatment facility (MTF); implementing logistics regulations, policies, and procedures for medical supplies in accordance with organizational standards; assisting with workload distribution for subordinates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
