About Position: Performs as a Physical Security Specialist for an IMCOM Installation and is responsible for physical security plans, procedures and inspections as well as key control, located at Directorate of Emergency Services Fort Bliss Texas

Duties

Inspect operating security programs to measure the adequacy, efficiency, or need for improvement Create recommendations in changes of security equipment based on issues identified through inspections. Assist in preparing the annual operating budget Coordinate the implementation of security plans and programs to meet organizational security requirements Provide technical advice to employees and/or organizations regarding security issues. Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain Secret security Clearance.
  • Incumbent is required to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.
  • Incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours that may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and overtime during crisis situations.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with the development and implementation of physical security operations plans and assessment of facilities to determine risks and vulnerabilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Criminal Justice, Security Management or Organizational Security and Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: CommunicationsPhysical SecuritySecurity Program ManagementVulnerabilities Assessment and Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-???????09).
