You will serve as an Electronic Mechanic in the Facility & Infrastructure Management Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
This announcement uses the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will devise new methods and specialized devices and to modify equipment.
You will make adaptations of old devices, or techniques to new situations.
You will make necessary adjustments to sequences of operations, as in development work like modification or repair of experimental devices.
You will devise and manufacture specialized equipment and adapt standard equipment in order to complete an assigned task.
You will work without fully developed guides, solve problems and contribute to design completion.
You will effectively adapt shop equipment and practices to unique fabrication problems, as in planning fabrication of testing equipment and prototype models needed for research and development.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Far vision correctable to 20/40 or better in one eye, and near vision correctable to Jaeger 2 at 14".
- Position is subject to various noise levels which occasionally exceeds 85 DBA. NOTE: Hearing protection must be worn for noise levels of 85 DBA and double protection is required for levels over 105 DBA.
- Incumbent will be required to be CPR certified for this position.
Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
