You will serve as a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC TRAINING LEADER in the Training Branch of the Human Capital Management Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. Duty Station: San Diego, CA

Duties

You will instruct apprentices, trainees, journeymen, workers, military personnel in the proper use of tools, machinery, test equipment, ATE, calibration devices, support equipment and repair procedures associated with the electronics trade. You will develop lesson plans, evaluate the progress of trainees, prepare periodic training progress reviews and forward for supervisor approval. You will demonstrate proper trade techniques and practices, explaining safety precautions to be followed in setting up machinery and equipment and give instruction in the use of ATE/Equipment techniques. You will keep progress records and in conjunction with the shop supervisor evaluate the trainees progress, make recommendations for advancement or additional training.

  • Incumbent may be required to work all shifts on a rotational basis and work overtime.
  • Incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain required level(s) of certification and/or training.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Incumbent may be required to be CPR certified for this position.
  • Incumbent is subject to loan or detail into other shops to meet need.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION A) Have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including Apply a comprehensive knowledge of operating electronic principles such as circuit elements, digital logic, microprocessors, core memory, interface circuits, digital data transmission, microwave, antennas, signal behavior, amplification, and displays to understand the interaction of complex, interrelated circuits to determine the cause of a malfunction and interaction of factors; Working knowledge of one or more of the following: Communication, Navigation, Electronic Countermeasures, Radar, or other systems; Ability to perform systematic troubleshooting analysis, isolate faults, and apply technical data while using test equipment; Skill in interpreting complex drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete systems to recognize the function and interconnections of various assemblies and troubleshoot the system from the schematic; Skill to troubleshoot, install, repair and maintain malfunctions in complex electronic systems where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation of individual circuits; Skill in using small hand and power tools, soldering tools, and micro-soldering equipment; Knowledge of methods of instruction, and ability to effectively instruct others; Working knowledge of ATE, fixtures and working knowledge of radar ranges; Personal computer skills to quickly and easily navigate all forms of Microsoft Office applications.
