You will serve as an ELECTRONIC MECHANIC in the Commanding Officer, Facility & Infrastructure Management Dept, Facility & Plant Maintenance Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
Duty Station: San Diego, CA
Duties
You will independently perform depot level overhaul, disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, alignment, installation and maintenance on electronic systems of greater complexity.
You will maintain ongoing prototype systems, implement maintenance and repair procedures on major modifications of systems previously assigned to the activity.
You will write and or load the test program for the unit under test, select appropriate interface device, connect required stimulation and measurement blocks, hook up the unit under test ans use an electronic keyboard to run the test procedure.
You will work from manufacturer specifications, schematics, block diagrams, and technical orders, determine the operation of circuits, locate points from which to take readings, analyze circuit layout and make visual inspection.

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Incumbent will be required to be CPR certified for this position.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain required level(s) of certification and/or training.

I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including 1) Implementing maintenance and repair procedures on major modifications of systems; 2) Overhaul, disassemble, repair, modify, assemble, test, troubleshoot, install and maintain electronic systems; 3) Operate and maintain complex automated test equipment (ATE); 4) Interpret manufacturers specifications, schematics, block diagrams, and technical orders; 5) Determine the operation of circuits, locate points from which to take readings and analyze circuit layout and make visual inspections. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.
B. I have the ability to perform the full range of tasks including g 1) Utilize electronic test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, signal pulse generators, oscilloscopes, waveform analyzers, frequency counters and power supplies to isolate component defects; 2) Repair malfunctions using knowledge of previous similar circuits and problems in order to determine the approach to the problems efficiently; 3) Follow oral and written instructions, accepted trade practices, processes, and procedures while accomplishing assignments. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
C. I have the ability to perform common tasks including g 1) Assist in determining work sequence, select test equipment, locate malfunction and complete repairs; 2) Follow oral and written instructions, accepted trade practices, processes, and procedures while accomplishing assignments; 3) Utilize tools to repair and install electronic equipment; 4) Remove and replace defective parts and assemblies. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed
