As a Visual Information Specialist you will be responsible for designing and producing visual materials, including infographics, PowerPoint presentations, reports, social media graphics, and other materials to support the DFC's communications efforts.

Duties

As a Visual Information Specialist, you will: Design and produce visual materials, including infographics, PowerPoint presentations, reports, social media graphics, and other materials to support the DFC's communications efforts. Prepare publication materials and lays out documents both for print and digital delivery. Work collaboratively with teams to conceptualize and develop visual assets that align with brand guidelines and support messaging goals. Use graphic design software to create videos including operating camera and A/V equipment, photography, recording professional interviews, storyboarding, scriptwriting, editing, and coordinating digital storytelling campaigns. Translate complex data and concepts such as impact data or technical financial information into clear and compelling visuals that are accessible to a wide range of audiences including the general public, congress, and the business community. Manage design projects from concept to completion, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality and layout composition. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external partners, and vendors to deliver projects and ensure that all visual materials follow brand guidelines and meet accessibility standards. Conduct research and analysis to identify trends and best practices in visual communication and continuously iterate and improve on visual assets to maximize impact and design techniques. Qualifications

Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level). Applicants must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements no later than the closing date of this announcement. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). BASIC REQUIREMENT A. Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. or Specialized Experience: Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means. AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT In addition to the Basic Requirement listed above, you must meet the required specialized experience/education listed below. You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualification requirements: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to: (1) Use graphic design software to create videos including operating camera and A/V equipment, photography, recording professional interviews, storyboarding, scriptwriting, editing, and coordinating digital storytelling campaigns. (2) Design and produce visual materials using programs such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, to include infographics, PowerPoint presentations, reports, social media graphics, and other materials to support communications efforts. (3) Prepare publication materials and lay out documents for print and digital delivery. OR B. A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or possession of a LL.M. degree, if related. Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position; OR C. A combination of education and experience as listed above. You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirements: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability to (1) Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external partners, and vendors to deliver visual projects, which follow brand guidelines and accessibility standards. (2) Identify trends and best practices in visual communication to maximize impact and design techniques on visual assets. (3) Produce creative and innovative visual communication projects using programs such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop to reach the target audience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
