You will serve as an INTERDISCIPLARY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/OCEANOGRAPHER in the RIVERINE BRANCH of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.

Duties

You will be responsible for the development, construction, maintenance, and upgrades of data models, data bases, and environmental products for Physical Oceanographic parameter. You will prepare currents measurements data as required to conduct ocean currents analysis. You will provide guidance and direction to lower grade personnel in the operation of equipment/software tools and adherence to stand data handling procedures. You will use computers, computer networks, Automated Data Processing (ADP) peripherals, and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) applications to support exercises and operations.

Qualifications

GS-12: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience and have extensive knowledge of spatial concepts and Geographic Information System (GIS) tools and technology Experience and have broad knowledge of physical environments to perform a wide-range of geospatial activities supporting the Naval Oceanographic Office. Basic Requirements:

1. Degree:(a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

2. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Basic Requirements:

1. Degree: (a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree) with at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences.
