You will serve as a Production Manager (MAIN PROPULSION MOTOR (MPM) SPECIALIST) in the COLUMBIA Submarine Project Office of of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING GROTON.

Duties

You will support the Motor Module Test Program (MMTP) and coordinates Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, in Groton, CT (SSGR) oversight of MPM efforts at the Compatibility Test Facility (CTF) in Philadelphia, PA You will provide an independent review and surveillance of motor module testing for the U.S. Navy and evaluate test documents. You will coordinate the timing and sequence of program planning, resourcing, scheduling, and related tests to ensure compliance with predetermined specifications. You will make frequent adjustments to production schedules and prepares justifications for additional funding of unplanned work. You will be responsible for oversight of the preproduction planning phase and the immediate production control for the main propulsion motor programs. You will provide oversight of the MMTP planning, execution, and performance. You will ensure all tests within an area of responsibility are conducted in a safe manner and in accordance with applicable procedures. You will be responsible for the initiation, coordination and control of phases associated with the construction, alteration, modernization and repair of submarines, the manufacture and repair of special equipment, and other miscellaneous assignments. You will be required to participate in a qualification program prior to being assigned as a Joint Test Group (JTG) Representative. You will perform in the capacity of a voting member on the Joint Module Test Group (JMTG). You will review test procedures for technical and administrative correctness prior to issuance. You will monitor and review shipyard planning, resourcing, scheduling, and related tests to determine compliance with predetermined specifications.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector coordinating test operations, activities, or functions for submarine systems, subsystems, or component test program to meet operational requirements.
