About the Position: This position is with the United States Army Reserve Command, Army Reserve G-3/3, Readiness Division, Readiness Training Branch, located at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Duties
Identify readiness shortfalls in measured resource areas of personnel, equipment on hand, equipment serviceability, and training for United States Army Reserve Command units assigned to Major Subordinate Commands (MSC).
Provide senior level executives with information, decision papers, and briefings on the readiness of individual units, commands, and functional alignments.
Recommend solutions to USARC executive management for readiness issues that fall outside the means of the MSC to correct.
Perform staff assistance visits to the MSCs for evaluation of readiness status.
Conduct direct coordination with MSC readiness counterparts to identify and resolve readiness deficiencies.
Use office automation programs and databases, such as Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, to conduct analysis from multiple data sources.
Conduct in-depth analysis of all Unit Status Reports (USR) submitted by major subordinate commands.
Organize USARC senior leader readiness visits to the MSCs to include ensuring attendance of strategic partners, briefings, and all transportation/lodging supports are in place.
Coordinate with the appropriate USARC Staff in the areas of Personnel, Logistics, and Training to resolve identified readiness deficiencies.
Requirements
- This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position is considered emergency essential, when called upon, incumbent will help to conduct 24 hours operations in the form of shift work as either the primary or secondary team member for a period of time to be determined by the operation.
- Position requires significant travel up to 60% of the time and normally over weekends.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing subordinate commands consolidated Unit Status Reports (USR); evaluating USRs for quality and accuracy in mathematical calculations; conducting analysis of USRs using statistical measures such as trend charts, gap and trend, linear regression, or prediction equations to uncover and determine root causes for shortfalls; providing recommended unit readiness solutions in 2 or more of the following functional areas: 1)personnel occupational skills match, Soldier deploy-ability, adequate Senior Grade assignments, 2) training status of both individual Soldiers and unit collective training events, 3) Soldier medical status, and 4) equipment inventory and serviceability; presenting readiness statistical results and recommendations to fix readiness deficiencies to senior leaders and military executives; preparing written and graphical representations in software programs such as SharePoint, PowerPoint and Excel; assisting in coordinating events or briefings on Unit Readiness assessments with subject matter experts, civilians, officers, or non-commissioned officers from headquarters' level staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
