About the Position: This position serves as a Lead Human Resources Assistant (Military) for the Adjutant General Division/Military Personnel Division.
Recruitment relocation and/or retention incentives are NOT being offered for this position.
Duties
As a Lead Human Resources Assistant (Military), you are responsible for the following duties:
Process personnel actions such as reassignments, promotions and awards, in accordance with established guidelines.
Utilize automated databases such as Electronic Military Personnel Office (eMILPO) and Interactive Personnel Electronic Records Management System (iPERMS) to ensure local official military personnel files are kept current and accurate.
Distribute workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization to assure timely accomplishment of work.
Track work progress to make day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities.
Provide on the job training to new employees to ensure understanding of work processes.
Track employee performance to recommend needed training development.
Maintain a current knowledge of military human resources processes to provide guidance to other employees on procedures and policies.
Review electronic documents for promotion eligibility to identify discrepancies.
Provide guidance on military personnel transactions such as promotions, reassignments, passport applications, Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) process, identification cards, etc. in accordance with military human resources guidelines.
Confer with military personnel to obtain information and/or resolve outstanding issues.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with military personnel work researching military human resource rules/regulations, communicating guidelines with soldiers and customers and updating military human resource records within an automated database system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
