The incumbent is responsible for providing a broad range of administrative assistance in support of the management team in Patient Care Services. The incumbent serves as a resource person, responsible for providing administrative assistance and coordination in the development, implementation, evaluation, interpretation, revision, and when necessary, corrective action of many applicable administrative functions, activities, operations and programs for which Chief Nurses are responsible.

Duties

Major Duties Include (but not limited to): Collects, maintains, and summarizes data and prepares a variety of monthly, quarterly and annual reports and logs. Responsibility for coordinating and maintaining records and documentation of all continuing education programs, in-service education and mandatory training. Responsible for inspecting/auditing competency files. Prepares a variety of materials including meeting minutes, letters, memorandums, and policies, disciplinary actions, education requests. Assists with canteen orders, medical media printing, and organization of various events. Prepares minutes and memorandums. Prepares requests (key, space, furniture, etc.), processes PIV requests. Responsible for employees' timecards. Responsible for new employee sponsorship. Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/06/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. ***Award 50's do not provide sufficient information and will not be accepted for the purpose of verifying time-in-grade. In addition to meeting experience, applicants for these positions must show possession of the following skill: 40 words per minute typing speed GS-06 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Creates and maintains variety of records, both electronic and hard copy file system. Inspects and audits competency files. Collects, aggregates, and shares data on administrative measures. Maintains time and attendance records. Physical Requirements: Work is mostly sedentary; however, some walking, bending, stooping, minor lifting of office equipment and supplies will be required.
