This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Military Operations Branch. Under the direct supervision of the Supervisory Archives Specialist, the incumbent applies a technical or quasi-professional knowledge of archival work in a variety of assignments.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-09. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a SUPERVISORY ARCHIVES SPECIALIST, you will:
Supervise a staff consisting of archives clerks, data transcribers, aids, and technicians, grades GS-3 through GS-7. Incumbent is responsible for the quality and quantity of work produced by these employees.
Use productivity data and tally logs to prepare workload feeder reports for the web tally. Determine daily staffing needs based on backlog and incoming agency workload projections.
Plan work schedules for projects. Assure the appropriate distribution of work and the meeting of schedules and deadlines. Set priorities and makes adjustments as necessary to accomplish tasks.
Conduct staff meetings to convey and discuss suggestions, changes, and new policies or procedures, which have an effect on center operations.
Inform Supervisor of anticipated vacancies, increases in workload, or other circumstances requiring replacement or additional staff.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-09, you must have one year specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level that is directly related to the position and has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is:
Leading a small component of a team, program, or project; AND
Communicating with internal and external stakeholders to provide information and resolve issues; AND
Applying and researching rules, regulations, policies, and practices to gather facts, and draw conclusions and/or make recommendations.
OR
You may qualify with a Master's or equivalent degree, OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR a LL.B or J.D, in a field related to this position; (attach a copy of your transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit)
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours may be combined with experience. Credit will be given for partial experience so long as specialized experience and or required education or training meet or exceed the minimum level required for the position. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-07, you must have one year specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level that is directly related to the position and has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is:
Applying regulations and policies to accomplish work assignments; AND
Operating office automation programs for such tasks as maintaining database information and preparing reports.
OR
You may qualify with one full year of graduate level education; OR Superior Academic Achievement based on a bachelors degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 9 semester hours may be combined with experience. Credit will be given for partial experience so long as specialized experience and or required education or training meet or exceed the minimum level required for the position. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-09, you must have been at the GS-07level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-07, you must have been at the GS-05 level for 52 weeks.
