This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. The incumbent serves as the Branch Chief over the Military Records Retrieval file/search operations for all military records retained at the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC), Agency Services of the National Archives and Records Administration.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
As a Supervisory Archives Specialist, you will:
Manage a substantial organization through multiple levels of subordinate supervisor and formal Team Leaders; supervise Program Managers.
Assist with the creation of development plans for staff members and facilitate the development of on-the-job learning experiences.
Perform increasingly complex quantitative and qualitative analyses of statistical data; conduct data collection, validate data, and prepare oral or written reports to document project methodology, results, and recommendations within the branch and across other functional areas of the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC).
Engage in issue tracking and analysis as well as other research to identify policy recommendations, including interventions, which assist the organization in meeting its short and long-term goals.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
To be qualified for this position at the GS-11 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes:
-Experience in leading a small component of a team, program, or project;
AND
-Developed methods, organizational structures, or management processes to better service both internal and external customers.
OR
EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., If related.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. . Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):
For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-09level for 52 weeks.

Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
