Duties
Retrieve laboratory and radiological results as ordered by a physician for their review.
Assist physicians in the treatment of patients with orthopedic and podiatric conditions and injuries.
Apply plaster and fiberglass casts and splints.
Fit off-the-shelf Orthopedic durable goods (such as splints, slings, walking boots, etc.) to ensure a proper fit.
Assist front desk personnel in checking in/out patients to maintain scheduled appointments.
Escort patients from examination rooms for their scheduled appointment and treatment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- his position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 20 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing basic medical tasks such as taking vital signs AND preparing examination rooms for procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position, such as Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, phlebotomy.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
