Duties

Serves as Research and Academia Coordinator. Manages all programs, policies, and procedures that ensure all human subject research being conducted in USASOC is within legal, moral, and ethical boundaries. Establishes and manages agreements with researching institutions to support research, educational, and veteran support efforts. Interprets and implements policies and directions from the Departments of Defense, Army, Health and Human Services, other federal agencies. Directs the review and facilitates the approval/disapproval decision of all intramural and extramural programs under USASOC, conducted in educational, research, government, industry, universities, and other institutions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • May travel TDY up to 30% of the time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Human Research Protection Office (HRPO) and Army Human Research Protection Office (AHRPO) credentialing to make exempt determinations.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience that is typically in, or related to the work of the position to be filled, such as: 1) Manages all programs, policies, and procedures that apply to human subject research; 2) Develop technical, administrative, and managerial policy and standards to ensure that all activities comply with the legal and institutional requirements; 3) Develops agreements with external institutions in support of collaborative research; 4) Advise and track relevant research efforts and collaborate to lead practices where gaps exist, with federal agencies, associations, academia, and within the industry. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as economics, statistics, mathematics, applied sciences, or law. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
