This position is located in the Program Applications Division, Office of Information Security, Senior Coordinator for Security Infrastructure, Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS), Department of State (DOS). The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the proper safeguarding of classified National Security Information (NSI) and intelligence information, including intelligence sources and methods and SCI through management and administration of the DOS worldwide information security program.
Duties
Implement and maintain Department of State’s policies and standards addressing the handling and storage of classified National Security Information and Sensitive but Unclassified information.
Implement and oversee policies and procedures for the control and protection of classified information authorized for dissemination to representatives of foreign governments.
Develops, implements, reviews, and maintains a variety of Division level automated administrative functions to ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices.
Conduct security training for bureau personnel regarding their responsibilities for the control and protection of classified NSI and SBU information.
Requirements

- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience implementing security policies for safeguarding national security classified and sensitive information. - Experience developing and implementing, policies and procedures for the control and protection of classified and sensitive information. - Experience using investigative techniques to evaluate security program for system vulnerabilities. - Experience developing and implementing security training programs.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
