This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This recruitment is for an Engineering Technician with the Fort Stewart Directorate of Public Works located at Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Duties

Provide progress/status reports about work orders, task orders and modifications budgetary/financial status and historical trends for purposes of review, record keeping and submittal of information to higher authority. Perform a variety of engineering duties involved in the maintenance, repair and improvement of installation real property facilities utilizing various contracts. Assist Branch Chief in preparing work orders, work classification amounts and staff summaries to go up to management for approval. Recommend clarification, corrections, and changes in design to specification writers and design engineers.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Security Clearance.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
• This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) managing contracts for compliance with acquisition regulations; 2) performing site investigations to validate existing condition; 3) reviewing incoming project proposal; and 4) recommending changes in design to specification. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
