The individual serves as the Program Support Assistant to the Suicide Prevention Coordinators and Disruptive Behavior Program in Mental Health Service at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Serves as an expert resource for matters related to the administrative side of the Program; data entry into tracking systems; reports summarizing findings from the tracking systems to be submitted internally and externally to the Director's Office.
Duties
Experience processing incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, guidelines, and other forms of written communication.
Experience with composing and editing letters as well as obtaining data information for recurring and non-recurring statistical reports.
Ability to review correspondence and reports for accuracy and completeness, prepare public presentation outlines and develop standard or form letters, as well as prepare replies to inquiries
Ability to perform office automation duties such as using software applications as electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, spreadsheet, and Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint etc.
Use appropriate formats and procedures for each task.
Experience with compiling data for monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Ability to work with Internal and External Customers.
Ability to analyze results and recommend changes.
Ability to work with managers, employees and other representatives of a program.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/06/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS 5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS 4. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS 4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:

Proficient with Microsoft Works
Analytical Skills
Proficient in VATAS timekeeping or any timekeeping system
Proficient with Fund Control Points/purchasing

Proficiency Requirement: In addition to meeting minimum qualifications, applicants for this position must possess the ability to type. Applicants for this position must show possession of the following skill: 40 words per minute typing speed. Applicants may meet these requirements by self-certifying their proficiency.
