This position is located at a VA medical facility in the Health Professions Education (HPE) Office (HPEO) and is organizationally aligned under the Associate Chief of Staff for Education, Designated Education Officer (DEO), who reports to the Chief of Staff (COS). This position supports the DEO and HPE Manager in establishing , maintaining, and evaluating the quality of health professions training programs and the quality of care delivered by health professions trainees (HPTs).

Duties

Major duties include: Provides technical and administrative guidance for operations with the VA Medical Facility and administrative support for program development for the Health Professions Education (HPE) Office (HPEO). Draft, edit and process memos, plans, local policies, standard operating procedures and other official correspondence. Participates in internal program office budget discussions and provides support for data collection, data entry, financial analysis work and assisting in development of the annual budget. Assists management and supervisor with Human Resource processes by gathering documents for position management, hiring actions, FTE requests, performance appraisals, writing position descriptions, etc. Serve as Fund Control Point Clerk/Purchase Card Holder for the Health Professions Education Office and processes requests for all supplies and materials. Serves as a timekeeper validating and processing timecards and managing/reviewing daily timesheets for staff leave requests, changes to tour of duty and ensuring premium pay/comp time for travel pay. Prepares documentations such as reports, agendas, and appropriate documents for presentations in conferences, workshops, and meetings. Oversees the logistics, planning and preparation for Health Professions Education Office meetings including scheduling, materials, travel and lodging arrangements, and special events. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/29/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work.
