About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. You may need to complete a 3 year probationary period, if applicable. This position is with 7th Signal Command, 21st Signal Brigade, 302nd Signal Battalion, located at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.

Duties

Participate in various meetings, panels, study groups, work groups and other planning activities at command and higher echelon levels to discuss plans, procedures, policies, and problems regarding assigned mission and functions. Resolve technical issues that affect remote terminal connections to RHN. Monitor request platforms for change request(s). Provide direction, control, and interface with other department staff for feedback on operational problems. Responsible for network planning and resource management in preparation for programming, configuring, and troubleshooting of network resources. Serve as the subject matter authority for the planning of Non-Secure Internet Protocol Network (NIPRNET) and Secure Internet Routing Protocol Network (SIPRNET) services in addition to Global Agile Integrated Transport (GAIT) networks. Maintain operational status reports regarding circuit status and equipment readiness. Responsible for providing data used in daily and weekly briefings for all satellite and terrestrial telecommunications systems status. Provide direction, control, and interface with other department staff for feedback on operational problems.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate Information Assurance certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, within 6 months of entry onto duty.
• This position is designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position requires irregular hours on rotating shifts. Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
