You will serve as a Computer Scientist in the Software Engineering Branch of the Fleet Readiness Department of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA.
Duties
You will evaluate all reported issues with the system software on the different system configurations in the fleet.
You will work on modifications to the system software, process or equipment to update or incorporate new test sets to aid evaluation of the supported hardware system.
You will review test plans, test results analysis, quality assurance plans, failure analysis, and test and evaluation plans.
You will lead a small group of professionals in complex software development and administration.
You will integrate system software outputs with display systems and submarine non-tactical systems.
You will use knowledge of computer theory, and computer languages such as C, C++, and Java to improve computer hardware capabilities.
Requirements
- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 411 level Advanced within 12 months of appointment.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional computer scientist analyzing hardware or software systems to troubleshoot or recommend system enhancements for improved efficiency of undersea systems and sub-systems.

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
