You will serve as a COMPUTER SCIENTIST in the UNDERSEA SYSTEMS ACQUISITION & ASSESSMENT DIVISION within the TEST AND EVALUATION DEPT of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA.
Duties
You will collaborate with vehicle and systems design agents to ensure compatibility and maintainability of toolsets.
You will coordinate with technical design agents and customers on development of analysis tools relating to applicable requirement specifications.
You will identify where tools and infrastructure need to be enhanced and modernized, utilizing current and future technologies.
You will apply accepted testing methodology to demonstrate that any tools developed are ready for implementation.
You will implement data science algorithms (e.g. machine learning) to large datasets to support the characterization of system data and performance.
You will ensure tools meet functional requirements throughout the lifecycle development, and conform to applicable configuration management protocols.

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 422 level Intermediate within 12 months of appointment.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional scientist analyzing test and evaluation assessment data for the development of an undersea warfare system or related assessment tools.

Education
Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
