Software Development Branch in the Theater Undersea Warfare Systems (USW) C5I Systems Division, Undermanned & Theater Undersea Warfare Systems Department of Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Keyport, Washington (NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA)
Duties
You will serve as technical expert for assigned system(s) and be responsible for the development of test software, and design verification testing of the primary systems and sub-systems.
You will be the principal source of information and advice for assigned system within the organization concerning the application and integration of technology to meet customer expectations and fleet readiness requirements.
You will provide computer software and hardware integration expertise in commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software languages and technologies.
You will research, analyze, and develop system capabilities and requirements.
You will solve complex engineering problems, particularly in COTS computer integration.
You will assist in testing and troubleshooting software and systems on board ships or at shore sites.

- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field - Engineering (S - ENG); Level I. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional computer scientist performing open architecture software design/development/testing, and hardware integration associated with complex combat systems technologies.

Education
Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
For 1550, Computer Science Series: Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in computer science;
OR
Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours were in a combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
