About the Position: The primary responsibility of this position is to manage, plan and organize the activities of the call center and patient appointment system, which employs a computerized method of providing primary care and specialty appointments within a large military treatment facility, and troop medical clinics for active-duty military, retirees, and their family members.
Duties
Responsible for the appointment booking in Military Health Systems Genesis (MHS Genesis) for a Medical Center Military Treatment Facility, and two Troop Medical Facilities.
Responsible for the technical operation of the MHS Genesis and T-Metrix operating systems and any software changes and upgrades.
Serves as the medical center Command consultant for the appointing process and issues involving scheduling of physician appointments, consult management, and execution of TRICARE Primary Care Manager (PCM) business office services.
Serves as the point of contact for the medical center patient appointment system.
Responsible for the administrative supervision over the Call Center patient appointment system.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- TDY required: 5%
- A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes demonstrated/documented experience in providing expertise and guidance to staff members concerning all aspects of access to care, booking protocols, schedule management, TRICARE access standards and referral management; monitoring various hospital programs to ensure departmental compliance with the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA), Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) Defense Medical Human Resource System internet (DMHRSi), and other sources of information.

Education: Successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
