This position will be assigned to the JBSA Lackland Outdoor Recreation Facility. This is a flexible category position with guaranteed 00 hours per week, May work up to 40 hrs /week. Applicant will not be eligible for benefits.

Duties

Plans, directs, and manages the operations of Riding Stables facilities. Conducts the stable's daily activities, ensuring that only authorized tenants utilize the facility and comply with directives, guidelines, established operating instructions, safety and environment requirements. Recommends and implements approved operating instructions for greater operational efficiency. Submits annual budgets, conducts quarterly reviews and submits to Outdoor Rec Director. Prepares and maintains reports, financial records, and individual member records. Coordinates stable activities with Outdoor Rec Director. Develops the agenda and conducts monthly meetings with the stable's members to provide information affecting the stable's operations. Develops and implements plans to meet objectives set for the stable by the Outdoor Recreation Director. Responsible for scheduling, planning and coordinating the stable's operation, and special events with veterinary personnel, civil engineering, safety, fire, and other base activities prior to the scheduled event. Maintains schedules of facilities use. Monitors and controls members conduct and care of facilities and equipment. Restricts privileges and recommends removal of members engaging in violations of stable rules, policies or procedures. Maintains all statistical data to include but not limited to membership, stable usage, and budget. Plans task to be accomplished and assigns work, giving instructions as necessary, to employees assigned to the stables or volunteers. Maintains cash and inventory controls, safeguards and follows established procedures for deposit. Prepares and responds to Riding Stable correspondence; accepts and processes Stable's membership applications; prepares renovation and maintenance work orders; and requisitions and turns-in equipment as required. Performs security inspections of facilities and animals; gives care to animals in emergency situations and uses judgment in requesting veterinary assistance; maintains animal health records. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of Riding Stable's facilities and grounds. May be required to operate a field-type tractor with attachments, other field type equipment, i.e.. Mowers, clippers, and sprayers, and electrical hand too ls, i.e.Drills, saws, and other common tools. Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position has physical requirements which require the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing drug use. Must have valid driver's license.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Qualifying Experience: Knowledge gained through experience which required the applicant too competently and independently plan, direct and manage the operations of a riding stable. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge in the methods involved in caring for horses to include environmental and safety procedures and precautions. 2. Ability to bend, stoop, stand and lift moderate to heavy items. 3.
