About the Position: This position is located on Schofield Barracks, Hawaii which is nestled at the foot of the Waianae mountain range on the island of Oahu. Duties

Coordinate with the Risk Reduction Program Subject Matter Experts to ensure identification of high-risk behaviors and suicidal ideation within affected populations. Ensure that installation suicide prevention efforts involve post wide education/awareness for all active duty, family members and civilian work force. Research topics and develops articles promoting suicide prevention for the installation newspaper. Participate in National/DoD/Local Suicide Prevention Conferences to further knowledge and education. Provide coordination of all suicide prevention training events delivered to the serviced population and maintains data base of training statistics by civilian organizations and active-duty units.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Suicide Prevention Program Manager: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as psychology, sociology, political science, education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes researching and gathering information to develop guidance for the suicide prevention awareness program; assist with training on suicide prevention awareness. . OR Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as as psychology, sociology, political science, education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least two years of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required three years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Experience as described in A AND the education described in B. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: CommunicationsCreativity and InnovationKnowledge ManagementTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
