Duties

As an IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK) at the GS-2210-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Responsible for day-to-day operation of MIT services as well as operation and maintenance of the Agency's primary communications networks and systems to include global IT support to DTRA locations. Identifies, recommends, and transitions appropriate IT services and capabilities to cloud providers or the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) for Common Use IT or related services. Responsible for overseeing, guiding, and reviewing work for IT projects, programs, and initiatives with an emphasis on network & systems design, network/systems integration, and current and future IT architectures and plans. Uses IT management skills and IT technical proficiency to ensure consolidated IT architectures and modernization plans (technical, budgetary/resource requirements, and risk management) are developed and updated for mission IT across the Agency, with external Agency customers/partners, and with the Department of Defense (DoD).

Qualifications

For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. AND You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Experience in coordinating efforts across geographically-separated locations, and working complex Information Technology (IT) network, systems and service design and implementation initiatives or projects. Experience in the detailed designing and implementing IT networks, systems, and new capabilities, and developing and defending/acquiring budget/resource requirements for IT networks, systems, and new capabilities. Experience as a technical expert in modern and state-of-the-art IT capabilities and solutions with the capability for providing oral presentations to large technical and non-technical audiences and developing written products for technical and non-technical audiences at the senior or executive level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
