This position located in the War Related Illness & Injury Study Center (WRIISC) of the VA Medical Center in East Orange, NJ. The WRIISC leads national education and evaluation efforts to improve the knowledge and competence of VA employees and to improve care for military exposures.
Duties

Providing leadership in the development and delivery of varied health education messages and products to Veterans, their caregivers and family members, VA, the VA and non-VA provider community, and the general public;
Developing and delivering health education in different modalities, including developing and delivering health education classes and materials to Veterans and providers;
Applying expert judgment, discretion, and mastery knowledge of health education principles, concepts, skills, channels, and objectives, including health promotion and behavior change;
Serving as an expert advisor on all aspects of the educational programs administered by the WRIISC;
Providing authoritative education services on a wide range of program activities, special assignments, and technical projects;
Developing, maintaining and disseminating relevant, up-to-date military exposure and health information that is informed by health education and health promotion theories and principles to Veterans, their caregivers and family members, VA, providers, and the general public, using various formats such as print materials (e.g., fact sheets, newsletters, website content), in-services, webinars (live meetings), web-based (eLearning), satellite broadcasts, conferences, and other platforms;
Conducting appropriate evaluations of health education activities and coordinating with the VA Employee Education Service (EES);
Participating in communications activities as they contribute to the education of Veterans and providers, including carrying out communications campaigns, marketing office initiatives, contributing to newsletters, supporting the webmaster and providing webinar support in collaboration with the Health Outcomes Military Exposures (HOME) office;
Performing related duties as required.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-11: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes: professional knowledge in public health and health education; subject matter expertise on environmental exposures; experience with various educational mediums such as podcasts, webinars, print materials, conferences, SharePoint and clinical briefs; experience with communication campaigns; experience in evaluating education processes and outcomes; and experience in creating new product lines and evidence of continuous learning as new technologies emerge. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. ~OR~
A Ph.D., equivalent doctoral degree, 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.M., in a related field that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. One year of full-time graduate education is the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. Transcripts required. ~OR~
An equivalent combination of specialized experience and progressively higher-level graduate education as described that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. Your experience must be detailed, and transcripts required.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some physical effort is required (handling, moving, assembling materials, and using equipment). Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office. May require occasional travel.
