About the Position: This position is located at USAJFK Special Warfare Center & School Chief of Staff, Fort Liberty, NC.
Duties
Serves as the Protocol Specialist in the Protocol Office, U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School (USAJFKSWCS).
Plans, coordinates, and executes all protocol aspects of ceremonial functions, including general officer promotions and retirement ceremonies, changes of command/responsibility, award ceremonies, graduations, etc.
Prepares written guest lists for use by the executive agents and is responsible for prompt submission of all pro-rata sheets utilizing this method of payment.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- TDY is required 10% of the time.
- May be required to work on weekends or evenings.
- Must be able to possess a valid driver's license.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Plans, coordinates, and executes all protocol aspects of ceremonial functions, including general officer promotions and retirement ceremonies, changes of command/responsibility, award ceremonies, graduations, etc. 2) Applying knowledge of protocol procedures to ensure functions are conducted in conformance with universally accepted diplomatic and military rules of customs and etiquette; and 3) Communicating orally and in writing to advise and instruct escort and support personnel on such matters as when and where to report for duty, the proper dress code, and any special instructions necessary for the scheduled activities; and 4) Developing Itineraries, invitations, guest lists, develops seating arrangements, and provides Biographical information for distinguished visitors and actions typical of event planning. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Communication.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
