About the Position: This position performs a variety of office automation and word processing duties in support of office operations which include serving as secretary to one of several Deputy Commander's assigned to a multi-disciplined, tiered medical complex.
Duties
Receive, screen and monitor telephone calls and visitors to the Command Suite
Coordinate travel arrangements with appropriate travel regulations
Interpret and adapt guidelines to specific problems to determine priorities and resolve complaints..
Maintains supervisor's calendar and coordinates with deputies to establish dates, schedule appointments and make commitments..
Prepare various reports including agendas and minutes for meeting proceedings within regulation.
Compose and type a wide variety of formats such as letters, technical papers, charts, briefing slides, messages, etc.
Inform staff as to unwritten and written policies, practices, procedures, and reporting requirements.
Develop, update, and maintain various databases or spreadsheets using MS Word, Excel, Access. etc.
Review, track ingoing and outgoing correspondence to ensure grammatical accuracy and conformance with policy.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes updating and maintaining supervisor's calendar; schedule conferences and meetings; coordinate travel arrangements according to travel regulations; prepare correspondence using office automated systems and answer routine and non-technical request for information.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
